History of Agricultural Engineering 150 Years Chair for Agricultural Engineering - Impacts on Re-search and Education

In the mid 19th century the Martin-Luther-University in Halle (Saale) already recognized the growing importance of agricultural sciences and the ensuing necessity to include them in university research and teaching. Since then the university made some important decisions which left a significant mark on the history of agricultural sciences, such as the establishment of the first Chair for Agricultural Sciences in Germany and the appointment of Emil Perels as the first Professor of Agricultural Engineering.

Today the university needs to develop new ideas to carry the successful history into the future.
